Akasa Air to Shift Mumbai-Jeddah Flights to Navi Mumbai Airport From December
Akasa Air will shift its Mumbai-Jeddah flights to Navi Mumbai International Airport from December, joining IndiGo and the Air India Group in relocating operations. Find out how the airline transfers could reshape Mumbai's international flight network.
Akasa Air and Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), which operates NMIA, announced the decision on Tuesday. Bookings for the Mumbai-Jeddah service opened on October 26. Passengers can book tickets through the airline’s website, mobile applications and online travel agencies.
The announcement follows similar plans by IndiGo and the Air India Group, which were revealed on Sunday. Both airline groups intend to transfer their international operations to NMIA in phases.
IndiGo and Air India Express together plan to shift 38 daily international flights, including both arrivals and departures, to the new airport. The move could bring around three million international passengers annually to NMIA.
IndiGo plans to transfer 12 daily international departures to 11 existing destinations, including Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Muscat. The airline will also introduce a new daily service to Kathmandu.
Air India Express will begin operating four daily domestic flights from NMIA in December 2026. The airline will subsequently shift its international operations to Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Doha, Muscat and Sharjah, starting in January 2027.
Air India Express expects to complete the entire transfer of its operations by the IATA Northern Summer 2027 season.
With Akasa Air, IndiGo and the Air India Group announcing plans to relocate flights, NMIA is set to accommodate a growing share of Mumbai’s international air traffic as airlines prepare for the redevelopment of Terminal 1 at CSMIA.
